Exploring Acids, Bases, and Salts in the Physical Science Classroom
My students need the Learning About Acids, Bases, and Salts Lb Kit and the pH indicators and Dyes STEM Kit to explore the chemical and physical properties of acids, bases, and salts.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a low-income/high poverty school district. I teach a Physical Science class of eleven nine graders. All my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. All my students have specific learning disabilities. Despite the challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. My students will learn better if they are provided with opportunities to do hands on activities and presenting the curriculum through explorations.
My Project
My students will use The Learning About Acids, Bases, and Salts Lab kit and the United Scientific pH Indicators and Dyes STEM Kit to conduct experiments that will allow them to explore the chemical and physical properties of acids, bases, and salts as well as the relationships between them. With these materials the students will investigate how salts are formed and will learn about plant pigments and their use as pH indicators. The students will make their own pH test strips and compare them against a commercial type.
These investigations will help the students to study, explore, and learn key compounds in the field of chemistry; acids, bases, and salts.
If my students do hands-on activities they will be more engage in the class. Not only my students will be very happy to do hands-on activities but also at the same time doing these activities will allow them to learn and remember the concepts easier. This project influence the lives of my students by making them to enjoy and learn science.
