Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have a great interest in science and we have been doing some hands-on experiments already this year. My students come from a lower economic background and don't have the chance to visit places like the Exploratorium very often. They are excited at having an opportunity to learn more about life science, electricity, physical science and magnets among other areas that the Exploratorium features.
This field trip will keep their interest in science up and give them more learning opportunities to be excited about.
My Project
My students are very interested in science and STEM based learning. Most of them have never been to a place like the Exploratorium and don't have the opportunity to visit museums. Going to the Exploratorium is a great opportunity to keep their interest and motivation to learn science at a high level. This project will cover the cost of bus transportation to the Exploratorium.
We do hands-on science activities from Bay Area RAFT and the students curiosity in science continues to grow.
Our experiments focus on areas such as sound, magnets, earthquakes, waves, the food chain, fossils and energy. The students get excited to perform hands-on experiments, and this increases their learning and attitude toward school.
More than half of students from low‑income households
