Explore, Touch, Smell, and Observe Through Sensory Tables
My students need the sand, sand tools, and water table because it will give them the opportunity to explore math concepts, problem solving skills, physical development, and creativity.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Rivas's classroom raised $699

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Children love to explore, touch, listen and observe everything around them. The more ways that they can explore, the more that children will learn. The challenge is that I was lacking sensory tables that will provide that exploration.
My students are low income children from California.
They attend a public early education center. I have twenty four students in my classroom from ages four to five. They are very smart and eager to learn. They love to learn through hands on experiences and fun activities.
My Project
Sand and water tables will foster learning in all developmental areas. It will provide opportunities for my students to experiment with math and science concepts, strengthen their physical skills, advance their social and emotional skills, and enhance language development. Math activities : more/ less, same/ different, many/ few, empty / full, before / after, greater than / less than.
Science activities : what makes rain, where does water come from, what makes mud, effects of force, effects of gravity.
Physical development : eye/ hand coordination, social and emotional development, releasing of emotions through pouring, pounding, and swooshing, cooperative play, sharing equipment and space.
Language development : new vocabulary, water and sand tables can be extended to writing experiences as well.
Creative development : it will encourage children to use their imagination, try out new ideas and solutions to problems in a safe environment.
Play with sand and water involves sensory experiences that appeal to young children.
While sand and water play can delight my students' senses, it also will challenge their minds and promote all areas of development.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
