This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The school bell rings and you can hear their excited voices as they head down the hall to our classroom.

78 inquisitive, eager, and smiling first graders make their way into our classes ready to be filled with wonder and knowledge as they learn about the world around them!

I teach in a Title 1 school where over 75% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. They come from diverse backgrounds and families. Some have just come to the United States and are learning English, others have parents in jail and are living with extended family members. One thing is certain, they all want to learn and are very active throughout the day!

My Project

Our students have a love of learning and a desire to explore things outside of our hometown. It is important to harness and encourage this love of learning and exploring while they are still excited about school! We use online learning to investigate topics such as force and motion, weather, energy, and living organisms. In addition, there are many math and reading extensions and games that can be accessed online.

Currently we share 5 Chromebooks between 78 students.

We are working towards having a Chromebook for every student. These 2 touchscreen Chromebooks will help with science research, as well as math and reading remediation and enrichment.
