I am a special education language arts teacher, at a large, inner city school in New Hampshire. Our school's population is diverse with students from over sixty countries and more than eighty different languages. Our students come from various backgrounds and face many challenges in and out of school.
I have a fantastic group of students who love learning, and they would benefit greatly from the ability to use Chromebooks in our classroom.
My students have varying degrees of ability and struggle with reading fluency and written expression, which impacts all their academics. Even though learning is difficult for them, most come to school every day, work hard, and they are proud of their accomplishments.
My Project
To access and acquire knowledge, through exploration of many avenues, involves creative curriculum and technology. I would love to bring this knowledge and skill set to my students.
Using Chromebooks would allow my students to be more actively involved in their lesson, have better research tools and acquire the capabilities to present their lessons through various applications.
When writing a paragraph on the Chromebook, or answering comprehension questions, students will be able focus on their ideas and not the quality of their penmanship.
With Chromebooks, I will continue to support lessons that meet the needs of all learners and offer my students a better means of engaging in the classroom and achieving their potential in the 21st Century classroom.
More than half of students from low‑income households
