This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are some of the most resilient, energetic, and inspiring young people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Many of them come from single-parent homes, most qualify for free or reduced-price lunch at our Title I school, and a large number of them have had to endure homelessness. They are also leaders and role models for the younger siblings they help care for while parents are at work.

Regardless of the struggles that they may face, my students still find a way to show up to class smiling every single day, virtually now during distant learning.

They are excited about their future and all of the possibilities that await them, while they are aware it will take a lot of work and dedication to get there. I have never met a more capable group of young people.

My Project

With the new distance learning, our students are forced to try and comprehend lessons from their homes via videos. These videos are only as good as the resources provided. Explaining a math problem on a computer, using a mouse, can get tricky. Many students aren't able to fully follow along because making numbers with a mouse is not that easy.

With these wireless writing tablets, my Mac will become the paper and the tablets will effortlessly show the math problem being solved.

Our students will get a sense of normal, as numbers will begin to look like numbers and their comprehension of the assignment will improve. These writing tablets to make understanding math easier, will also work with explaining how to do other work. This could be possible, with your support!
