Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Inspired by Marsha Valk's experimental gelli mono prints, students will crate unique pieces by gathering materials, found objects through a field experience. Students will be encouraged to think of Miami's plant species to create unique artworks that speak of place and home.
Students will be able to understand the process of using gel plates to create three mono prints, incorporating man made and natural elements.
Many of my students hail from different parts of Latin America, the Caribbean including Haiti, Cuba, Honduras, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Guatemala and Mexico among others. They love to experiment and enjoy creating art that speaks of their own personal experiences.
