My Project
When we were learning remotely, 5th grade students were in 2nd and 3rd grade. They missed the opportunity to truly understand math concepts in a concrete way. This creates a challenge when math concepts become more abstract. The math manipulatives in this project will support 5th graders in understanding concrete concepts and bridging to more abstract concepts. For example, the spinners and counters are used to play games and students learn when they're having fun. Another example are the tiles which can show area and build to understanding volume. Meter and yard sticks support understanding of measurement.
