Thank you for taking the time to look at our campaign! I am a math instructor hard at work taking our math curriculum to the next level. At our school, we emphasize hands on learning, real life experience, and community values. With that in mind, myself and the rest of the math department have overhauled the way we approach teaching, and more importantly learning math. Last year we adopted a philosophy called "Experience First, Formalize Later" or EFFL. Each class starts with the introduction of a problem with few parameters on how to solve it, breaking the students into small groups and letting them take their best shot, standing and actively working with their team members at white boards, bouncing around ideas and different paths to naturally fall into advanced mathematical concepts. Once students have built their confidence and found a solution, the instructor informs them of what they've discovered all on their own! We take notes as a group and learn important vocab, formalizing and describing in more detail the processes they can follow for solo work for the rest of the class period.
We have found great success with this method and are expanding further into other classes and more students, and to accommodate this growth, we need your help!
