My Students
If you ever want to see the creative capability of a group of students, walk into my room when my anatomy classes are building and labeling life-size skeleton models from house-hold materials! In six short years, my anatomy classes have grown from 80 enrolled students to 140+ across four separate classes. Also in those six years, a shortage of funds, technology, and materials to provide these students with the necessary learning experience to help them be successful has been evident.
My students are curious, creative, and motivate me to make each lesson better than the last.
Many of my students have dreams of pursuing a medical degree after high school, and I am here to help prepare them in any way I can. My students come from extremely hard-working, middle-class families. They count down the days for each dissection, they work diligently to complete each lab assigned, and their excitement is evident each time they are given the opportunity to work with tools they've seen in a medical professional's office. They deserve a world opportunity, and I work my very best to give it to them.
My Project
The human body is an incredible work of art that I have the honor of teaching so many of our students about. Although I can teach organ systems of the human body via PowerPoint, handouts, diagrams, and models... making them come to life so that my students can better understand is a completely different challenge. Imagine being able to use a cell phone or tablet, focusing it on your lab partner's torso, and then being able to see, learn about, and interact with the organs inside them. Incredible, right? I think it would be, too!
With a classroom set of Virtuali-Tees, human anatomy and physiology can essentially come to life right in front of my students' eyes.
These are more than just t-shirts, they are a window into the amazing world that is the human body. They will provide my students with the opportunity to see how the organs and organ systems work together... things we spend every single class discussing.
Additionally, having a classroom set of these shirts will allow me to develop lessons that are tailored for partner work or small groups. This will give every student in my classroom the chance to participate and interact with these shirts, rather than waiting for their turn or watching from afar. These will nurture my students' curiosity while also providing an amazing resource that will benefit my current and future students for years to come!
