it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project is to get materials for my Design Crafts students. Design Crafts is a class that allows students to explore design, while also utilizing craftwork. As a designer myself, I want to be able to expose my students to all the possibilities and opportunities within the design realm. Whether that is interior design, fashion design, footwear design, motion design, illustration, graphic design, typography, textile design, or product design. Living in our dear city of Los Angeles, the potential opportunities in the arts are limitless.
Please help give my students access to materials for fabric weaving and crochet-- both tactile forms of art, which are meditative and fun!
My students have expressed a great interest in the textile arts and I believe that this planned project in weaving and crochet will allow them to build a foundation of learning in this craft. It will give them skills in color theory and design, as well as tactile hand-coordination. Crafting is also a big stress reliever and gives students a space to relax and stay present.
