Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a life skills class with seven boys and one girl. My students are unique learners. I have students who have Down syndrome, and students with autism. They are all unique in their own ways. Some of my students are verbal and the others are nonverbal. I have one student who is in kindergarten, two in 1st grade, two in second grade, and two in third grade. It is hard for them to express their wants and needs, as students with disabilities struggle with academics and motor skills.
My students need help because they are unable to communicate their wants and needs.
Our school is a Title I school where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Fifty percent of my students come from single-parent homes.
My Project
The materials that I ordered will help my student to expand their learning. Most of my students are non verbal. Since they are not able to tell me what they have learned they will be able to show what they learned. It is very important that students with different disabilities are able to show what they know. They sometimes get frustrated when they are not able to communicate their need, wants or what they know. This items will help them communicate in a different way what they know, and that will make them very happy.
