My students need these books to diversify their reading genres. Expanding their genres and not relying on movies of Chronicles of Narnia or Harry Potter. The books offer so much more!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A typical day in Advisory class is the students come to the classroom and are dedicating 35 minutes to reading! They sit in their seats and pull out the AR (Accelerated Reader) book. The book can be fiction or non-fiction.
The genres of books they read vary from Harry Potter, Diary of a Wimpy kid, Maze Runner, and much more!
The students are very dedicated to reaching their personal goal. They are expected to reach certain goals every five weeks and once they reach their goals they are invited to a school-wide banquet!
These books will allow for our students to expand their reading preferences and branch out to different series. They will also be able to challenge themselves with raising or improving the Accelerated Reader goal.
These books can help our students become more literate and allow them to dive into different genres of books, as well as challenge themselves to read bigger chapter books.
My Project
These books can help our students become more literate and allow them to dive into different genres of books, as well as challenge themselves to read bigger chapter books.
The varying books that become movies are easy topics to allow fluid and constant discussions whether the movie did the books justice or not.
The students need to be able to have options and these books allow for that to happen and allow for them to grow and learn about various people.
These books will help all 450 students at our school and give them the safe haven of being able to just pick up a book a read when they feel the urge.
