Expanding Photo Club Capacity

Help me give my students more professional photography tools to engage in photo club, memorialize our family engagement nights, and collect photos for the yearbook.

My Project

I work with the most amazing students every day at school. They are creative, empathetic, insightful, and LOVE to learn new things. This year we had a goal of 20 students in the photo club. We are full to the max, with a 15-student waiting list. As students have grown over this past year, they have learned about photography, hosting and preparing for an art show, and making their photos look professional.

Our goal for this coming school year is to allow for an increase in the number of members in the photo club and expand on the work we have started, but this will require more cameras and photography equipment.

These efforts will include hosting photos around the community in stores and workplaces, as well as participating in the World Arts Festival, running our photo show, photographing our family engagement nights, and capturing moments for our school's yearbook.

With the gracious support of our community- we have funded 5 cameras, but 3 more will allow us to truly make this club open for more students and bring the joy of the arts into our building in a larger capacity. As we gain 5th grade in our building next year, we will be adding additional spots in the photo club as well. Thursdays are the highlight of my week as we gather, and learn about each other's views and perspectives. This is truly the best part of photo club.
