Expanding Our World View Through Middle Eastern Literature
My project needs a diverse set of 16 texts such as "Under the Persimmon Tree" by Suzanne Fisher Staples in order to expand our world views through literature.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Mudd's classroom raised $250
This project is fully funded
I currently teach 10th grade world literature to a diverse population of students. Many of my students are high needs; however, I also have students that are beyond grade level within the same classroom. The diversity of my classroom is a great resource, however, it also provides distinct challenges.
My school does not have a library. Therefore, the texts that we have are limited and often do not reflect the diverse population of students that we have. Many of the students who fall far below grade level have limited access books, let alone a variety that opens their world view.
We would like this text set so that students may engage with high interest books that reflect a part of the world that many of them know very little and have many misconceptions about. Not only will this text engage readers, it will also serve as a highly needed resources to use in teaching our world literature courses. It is our hope that through engaging in this high interest text set, we will be able to challenge misconceptions and create an understanding that in turn helps create a better world.
Your donation will help us reach our diverse population through literature. It will also provide a context to further our understanding of the Middle East.
