This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We live in a world filled with technology yet, our classrooms have very little of this. My students would benefit from having an LCD projector in the classroom to bring our curriculum to life with supplemental materials such as vocabulary word games, digital storybooks, and other resources.

My students are enthusiastic first-graders in a Dual Language Spanish/English program.

This program teaches a group of multicultural English speakers and English Language learners how to read and write in both languages. This allows for students to learn about each others' language and culture. Our school is Title 1 and services primarily an economically disadvantaged population.

My Project

Bringing an LCD projector to our classroom will be an exciting experience for my students. I will be able to incorporate technology in the classroom that may be limited in the home. Our new language arts and math programs come with supplemental material that cannot be utilized without this essential tool. My students will be able to practice their vocabulary with word games, read digital storybooks as a class, and see animated math lessons. Further, I would be able to use all the resources the Internet has to offer in my daily instruction. This way, I can cater to the multiple learning styles and link my students' prior learning to my daily lessons.

The technology in our classrooms has not progressed at the same rate as the rest of society.

Bringing this LCD projector into the classroom will allow me to bring my students one-step closer to the 21st century. As teachers, we want to provide the best and most stimulating learning environment for our students, and I know that by using this tool my students will see learning in a new light!
