This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember the satisfaction you had when you created your first pot or bowl in school? Many of our students don't know what that feeling is like.
I teach a bunch of great middle school students ranging from 6 to 8th grade.
Most of my students have not picked up a piece of clay until they've reached my class. Our ceramics program has been growing and we have a large number of students who want to participate.
My Project
These tools will be used to create ceramic pieces such as pinch pots, coil pots, slab pieces, and more. Since our program is growing and we now have an intermediate and advanced class we need more supplies and more advanced supplies as well. We will use the tools to shape the Clay. The containers to fill with glaze. The slab roller to help us make our pieces, and the posters will help the students envision what they will be making.
I want the students to see how it feels to pick up a piece of clay.
Tomorrow something and create something new. I want them to experience the creative process and have the feeling of satisfaction that they made something out of nothing.
