This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Reading is a discount ticket to anywhere" by Mary Schmich. My students are natural adventurers. They welcome challenges and they’re always willing to learn. However, 45% of my students struggle in reading comprehension and vocabulary. I believe that reading interactively will improve my students reading comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and spelling. Moreover, familiarize them with the different genres’ books have to offer.
Reading is a fundamental tool for learning.
There is no doubt that children that enjoy reading achieve higher grades in school. Reading is not just to help children expand their knowledge and experiences, it also increases their confidence. There are many reading programs that can assist children with reading. However, sometimes my students are not able to use the technology as much, since there isn’t many laptops to go around. Using these programs can benefit them and can also make learning fun! Technology is a great way to help grow their passion for books and their love for reading.
My Project
Educational programs are an asset in our school. Not only are these programs fundamental in reading and learning, they promote the importance of reading in a fun and interactive way. We currently use programs such as Istation and Achieve3000 in the classroom. These programs can be downloaded to a Kindle Fire tablet for easy use. Some features these programs offer are a simple tap on a word that the student doesn’t understand; it will read the word to the child and explain the meaning if needed. Learning in context has been proven to be the best way for a child to develop their vocabulary. These tablets will allow my students to learn how to read at a faster pace as well. Finally, improve their reading comprehension through interactive lessons and demonstrations. I believe that the regular use of these programs will increase a student’s potential to do better in school. Thus, help promote the importance of learning through reading to my students.
