This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in CA. We are a Title 1 school and are 86% economically disadvantaged and most receive free or reduced lunch.
These students are impoverished and have music in their big hearts.
These scholars work hard and need access to high-interest class materials! They deserve to be exposed to technology and high-quality class materials just as much as other students who are more affluent. To reach my diverse learners, I draw upon strategies that promote active engagement so that all students can participate to their full potential.
My innovative scholars are in a dual-language program where all students are learning English and Spanish. My scholars are diverse, some are English language learners and others are native English speakers. The program fosters bilingualism and high levels of academic achievement through instruction in two languages--50% of our day is English and 50% is Spanish.
My Project
My students will be using the Chromebooks during blended learning time. They will have access to learning that combines academic content while teaching proficiency in the use of computers and applications. My scholars will collaborate by using Google Docs to work on slides and group presentations while also learning and exploring the world through live web cams.
Technology is a growing part of our lives, and because our student population is high poverty, school is their primary and sometimes only access to this technology.
In order for my students to be successful in today's society, they must learn to be technologically savvy. It is vital for my students to stay connected, engaged, and motivated which can be achieved through these chromebooks.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
