Expanding French Language Learning Opportunities for Students
Help me give my students readers with audio and supporting materials so they can learn French in our new language immersion school!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Croker's classroom raised $231

My Students
I teach first grade in a K-8 language immersion school in which students learn the curriculum in either French, Chinese, or German. Not only are the students learning a new language, but they are also learning about the world! Students are exposed to various cultures, customs, traditions, and language on a daily basis.
The language immersion program is a wonderful way to open students' horizons about the world!
Teaching is a big passion of mine, and I love seeing my students blossom and achieve their goals. I provide a nurturing, safe, loving classroom where students can feel comfortable to learn and grow in their education and character. I personally believe that if they are given love, attention, encouragement, and inspiration, they can become successful in anything.
My students work hard and are eager to learn through engaging, meaningful activities and use their creativity to apply what they have learned. I teach my students social, emotional, and academic skills through play with stuffed animals. My students are in a Personalized Learning environment, in which they complete differentiated tasks at their own pace, take ownership of their work, and reflect on their learning process.
My Project
I am requesting readers with audio and supporting materials so they can learn French in our new language immersion school! I am thrilled to be teaching in a brand new language immersion school for K-8 students! My first graders will be learning the curriculum (math, science, Social Studies, reading, and writing) all in the French language!
Students will be exposed to the French culture and language through singing, engaging and hands-on activities, story time, role play, Readers Theatre, and poetry.
Students learn better through visual, kinesthetic, and engaging lessons. It is important to have a daily routine in the classroom. Students also need to be exposed to the French vocabulary through repetition.
To help students learn the language, I will use the French calendar to teach students the days of the week, months of the year, numbers and the weather. In addition, my students will practice using French vocabulary words with their peers in stations using the picture cards and games. Students will be actively engaged by using the resources to communicate in French (orally and in written form) with their partner. Story time is one of my favorite parts of teaching! I will use the books to help students learn to understand and read in French. Students will also have the opportunity to make the books come alive by acting out parts of the stories using gestures and expression with their peers. My classroom becomes a theatre! Role playing is a great way for students to practice their communication skills. Not only will they strengthen their reading skills, but also their speaking skills, all in the French language!
