FULLY FUNDED! Mr. B.'s classroom raised $715
This project is fully funded
My 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students need a LCD projector to more fully develop an understanding of other cultures through visual arts. My school is an urban, Title 1 school in a poverty stricken community, and has no funding for the art program. I teach all grade levels in middle school, as well as all students with special education needs. The school’s population lives well below the poverty line and therefore benefits from exposure to other cultures and lifestyle choices. The most powerful resource for cultural exploration is the arts.
I was given the opportunity to borrow an LCD projector for one day last year, and the students were more involved in the learning process and asked more questions about the topic presented. It also allowed more think-time for the many students with special education needs because the information remained visible for a longer period of time. The LCD projector allowed me to present more information tailored to the students’ interests, which helped them stay on task all period.
A LCD projector will help me bring lessons, art, and cultural examples alive. I have many power-point lessons, visual art examples from my personal archives of travels and museums throughout the world, as well as projection-based mural projects to enhance the school community.
I can only hope that with your help that I can make these fantastic learning opportunities possible with a simple LCD projector. Please help our less fortunate students. It would mean the world to them and me to know that there are people willing to help them. With your help, students who rarely leave the neighborhood will be able to travel around the world every day.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
