Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

This is a classroom of wonderful, eager to learn, beginning English speakers. Most of these students are refugees who have come from all over the world, have had little or no schooling, and speak little or no English when they arrive to our school.

Since our students come from all over the world, they speak many different languages and have a very difficult time communicating with each other, as well as their teachers. Pictures are a powerful tool these students use to acquire English vocabulary.

Having access to a digital camera allows us to take photographs that can be used to create visual aids to help the students learn all kinds of vocabulary that pertains to school and everyday life.

Your help will make it possible for these students to acquire language skills that will allow them to have access to school content and curriculum, as well as communication skills that they need to survive in a new country.
