Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a public Kindergarten through eighth-grade school in a high-poverty, urban community located in Newark, New Jersey. They love music class and are great musicians. Even though we don't have a budget for new materials, we find creative ways to make music together, even during this time of remote learning.
If we received new books about the fundamentals of music and famous musicians, I know my students would be more engaged in their lessons.
My Project
I have requested new books so my students will be excited to learn about the fundamentals of music, as well as learn about famous musicians. As my school moves to a hybrid model of learning due to Covid-19, I will be able to read these stories to both students learning virtually at home and students in the classroom too.
I have noticed that after so many months of virtual learning, most students are tired of information being presented in videos.
However, all of my students still enjoy being read to. These new books will definitely make the learning experience more interesting for everyone.
