This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Energetic, innovative, and bold are some of the few words that describe my empowered students in my fifth-grade classroom. Every day, they strive to think critically, creatively, and work collaboratively.
Some ways this is accomplished is by engaging in academic discourse and reading books that not only spark imagination but also think critically about relevant, real-world events.
Malcolm X once stated, "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today" It's important that the students in my classroom are supported in further developing their skills in order to be successful for tomorrow.
My Project
Students will have access to these books inside and outside of the classroom. These books will promote student autonomy, student literacy, and increase their motivation!
Because of the diverse selection of books, students will find the stories relevant and engaging.
Furthermore, students will be able to select from a variety of options that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
The best way to increase students' reading ability is to read more, and these books will support them with their journey to attain proficiency in reading.
