My Students

In Ms. Sousa's room we start our day off with breakfast, morning work, and morning meeting. Our ELA block is filled with centers to work on our weekly objectives. After our specialist we get right to math. We finish up our day with silent reading and a read aloud from our latest mentor text.

My students are very avid readers.

They look forward to reading every day and get excited to talk about the books they are reading. My students are athletes. Some play organized sports, like baseball or soccer, and some are just skilled at recess. My students are scientists who get excited for every science block and eager to conduct new experiments. My school is a diverse, urban, multilingual community that welcomes all and makes great strides to help all the students grow and succeed academically, emotionally, and personally.

My Project

My students come from a lower class economic background. It is because of this that students do not have access to books at home. The books included in this project will be a part of a classroom library the students will have access to borrow the books from. We have silent reading everyday. Silent reading everyday helps the students to gain exposure to literature, gain fluency, build vocabulary, raise their reading levels, expand their imagination, become better writers, and mostly, learn to love reading. As the classroom teacher I am trying to provide more books for the students to have access to. My students love to read "The Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series. This is a special request right from my students to help fuel their reading enjoyment. I have also requested a pack of fourth grade level books to add variety to my browsing library to give the students different genres to choose from.

This is my first year as a fourth grade teacher and my browsing library is severely lacking in stock.

Your donation will help expand my library available to my students and result in helping expand the students mind. You will be an important asset in helping the education of students so they can have a better education and better lives for the future.
