Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It is important as a teacher to stay up-to-date and relevant for students. Fake and real news are at the fingertips of our devices. Students can easily access information via the internet, which is often through social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. I want to help my students stay connected and be prepared for the twenty-first century. Part of helping them is giving them the ample opportunity to know what’s going on around them and the world. It is imperative for students to be informed with facts coming from reliable resources.
A deeper understanding of current topics in the world expands students’ world views.
Time for Kids will provide current topics that will help students develop critical thinking skills, become informed citizens, and understand the world around them. Having insight on what’s happening in the world builds empathy and compassion. It fosters students to become responsible and active citizens. It taps not only into their critical thinking skills, but creates intrinsic motivation to learn more because students connect with materials that are relevant to them.
