My Project

We are seeking your support to bring Exit West by Mohsin Hamid into our AP Literature and Composition classroom. This powerful novel blends magical realism with timely themes of migration, identity, and global conflict, offering students a unique lens through which to explore literature’s relevance to the modern world.

Learning Goals:

Analyze narrative structure, symbolism, and magical realism as literary techniques.

Evaluate how global events and personal experiences intersect in contemporary literature.

Develop empathy and cultural awareness through diverse literary perspectives.

Strengthen critical thinking and analytical writing in preparation for the AP exam.

Major Creative Projects:

Global Voices Podcast: Students will research refugee experiences and produce a podcast episode connecting real-world stories to Exit West.

Literary Maps Project: Using digital tools, students will create interactive maps tracing the protagonists' emotional and physical journeys.

Personal Narrative Pairing: Students will write their own creative nonfiction pieces inspired by themes from the novel, pairing them with selected passages in an annotated portfolio.
