My students need Scholastic News Science Readers, Small Group Teaching Centers, and Comprehension Journals to help support their learning during Balanced Literacy.
Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift. —Kate DiCamillo
Reading becomes dull when students have only a few books to choose from during guided reading. Let's change that by providing my 2nd grades with new exciting text!
My students come from under privilege homes and require additional support materials.
While these 24 students may have home life challenges it does not stop their desire to learn more and become better academic scholars. They are thirsty to read authentic text options that will expand their knowledge.
My Project
My students need Scholastic News Science Readers, Small Group Teaching Centers, and Comprehension Journals to help support their learning during Balanced Literacy. During guided reading students will be able to work in small groups or with partners to read and discuss the passages provided within the materials. Students will be able to pose questions to one another, use graphic organizers, and explore new concepts. These colorful and high interest selections will have students excited about reading!
Having these materials during the school year will help engage students during reading time.
These high-interest, colorful, and attractive materials will provided students with practice using different reading comprehension skills, introduce new vocabulary, and exploration of new concepts. Students increased engagement will help improve reading stamina, comprehension, and confidence. Thank you for believe in my students and their ability to succeed beyond of their circumstance.
