My students need speed stacking materials in P.E. to assist in right/left brain development that is an increasing focus for our Physical Fitness program.
Students need to use their entire brain throughout the school day!
Our students come from a lower socio-economic, culturally diverse and very transient area.
They work very hard in school but coming from different educational and cultural backgrounds, they struggle with the standard testing format. Our school enrollment is increasing and our program budget is not meeting basic needs.
My Project
With the stacking cups we are seeking, we plan to assist students with right/left brain development, hand-eye coordination, gross and fine motor skill development and build cooperation. Our goal is to host a school/district cup stacking tournament that enables all students and staff, regardless of athletic skill, to be able to participate. This activity also enables us to include our students that have special needs or disabilities to take part.
Studies have shown that this activity can enhance right brain (creative, abstract) and left brain (sequential, recall) development.
By addressing whole brain development at the elementary level, we hope to have students improve their knowledge base and give them a better chance of success as the progress through their educational levels.
