Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are lively and free-spirited. They are hard-working and have so many aspirations. I look forward to going to work every day because each day is different and it is amazing to see how much they grow intellectually every single day.
Sports matter!
I grew up in an improvised neighborhood and sports is what kept me out of trouble. Being a part of a team kept me focused and disciplined and that is what I want to do for my students. My physical education instruction will allow my students to learn rules and regulations of different games, build friendships, condition their bodies, learn sportsmanship, and most importantly stay active!
My Project
We live a sedentary life because everything is at our fingertips. Often kids stay in to watch television, play video games, or watch videos on their portable devices. How do we change that culture? How do we motivate our children to go out and MOVE?
I am requesting 4 soccer balls, 6 baseballs, and 2 baseball bats.
Aside from the physical education minutes that we must meet, it is my goal to have a strong curriculum both indoors and out. My fifth graders will be starting with the fundamentals of baseball. We will be working on our posture, catching, throwing, and batting. We will be learning the rules of baseball. I've already personally purchased mitts for every single student and they feel like "real" players. Once the students have all learned how to play, we will host a family game of kids versus parents. We will be using the requested equipment both for practice and for our official game. We already have our team shirts!
From baseball, we will move to soccer. As the season shift, so will our sports activity.
