Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students need to be pushed to higher expectations with reading and comprehending complex text.

I teach 23 energetic and hard working third graders who love and enjoy to read books.

My students are not as fortunate to have many things and many come from low income families. About 75 percent of my students are English Language Learners. My students enjoy the opportunity to escape in a great book.

My Project

My students will benefit from the complex text because it will give them an opportunity to be exposed to complex text that they would normally not choose because they think it is too hard. However, with my close read instruction and vocabulary structure strategies students will be able to break down the text and easily comprehend what they are reading.

My students need more difficult text to challenge them to higher expectations and improve their reading abilities.

It would also help my students confidently choose more complex text to read.
