This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are requesting three class sets of Kwame Mbala's exciting adventure-fantasy novel Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky. We are thrilled for our students to read with this engaging novel and learn more about African and African American myths and cultures in the process.
To increase our students' engagement in literacy and help them develop their own rich reading identity, we strive to include more varied, relevant texts that help them grow and discover the world around them.
This text will expose students to new perspectives, identities, and cultures, while helping them to consider and reflect on their own. In addition, students will have the opportunity to meet the author in the Spring, and after reading these books will be prepared to engage more fully in the experience.
