it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 8 year olds that at a mere 6 years of age had their world turned upside. With the pandemic still running strong, they are constantly needing to roll with the punches and find a new norm. My student are still learning to navigate their emotions and advocate for their needs so they can excel in school and life.
My Project
One of our biggest needs this year has been a good quality set of headphones! With amazing technology comes the need for each student to be able to access lessons and activities on their own time and with their own headphones. Also, I noticed that our class library has gone almost untouched this year. I moved down a grade, and I realized early on that what my 4th graders loved in years past was too hard for my incoming 3rd graders to enjoy.
My students' reading abilities are varied, and I need to meet them where they are at.
My students want to read, but they also need the support of pictures to help them understand. I have chosen graphic novels, as well as many fun informational books with lots of pictures. It is also important for me to have good social emotional learning books on hand so I can help guide them through the ups and downs that their emotions bring to our classroom. I know that a good set of headphones and some really engaging books will help round out our learning and enjoyment in class.
