This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The first day of kindergarten is a major transition in all young children’s lives. As a new Kindergarten teacher, I will do my best to make this transition as fun and engaging as possible. My new students will be excited little ones full of energy because they will be entering kindergarten. I know most of my future students because we have a Pre-K class at my school and I've been at my school for 18 years. I teach in a public school that is located in a city where we have a 90 percent socioeconomically disadvantaged population and 4 percent foster youth.

Creating a warm, inviting, and engaging classroom environment for my students is very important to me.

These little ones will enjoy working together with their friends and getting their hands involved in their learning. They will enjoy discovering new concepts. I can just imagine their faces full of wonder and excitement. They will love all the hands-on activities that I have planned for them. They will have fun while learning the kindergarten standards.

My Project

These materials will help my students build and strengthen their foundational kindergarten math and language arts skills. Teaching math using these math counters will be attractive to students because we can do so many things in math and we can also learn about animals.I think these tools will help me make kindergarten fun and engaging.

The use of hands-on materials will motivate students to engage in learning how to count, sort, create patterns and learn the alphabet while also having fun.

The magnetic alphabet letters will help me teach the letters and sounds in a fun and interactive way. I will use these magnetic letters and some cookie sheets to manipulate letters/sounds so my kindergarteners can practice their phonemic awareness and phonics.

The finger paint will be part of my art lessons where I will teach the names of the colors, patters, and sharing. This will also be a lot of fun!
