My Students

Most of my students are known as a geographical exception. Their parents opted to send their children to my school, instead of the school located where they live. They live in a rough part of our island and they can be a little rough themselves.

Despite it all they still have so much love to give and this is what continues to amaze me about them everyday.

These students have gone through so much in their young lives. I want to give the students at my school more resources and opportunities. They deserve an outlet and an opportunity to show the world just how amazing they truly are.

As a school we don't have a vast amount of funds to help support our students and our classrooms. My students have shown tremendous growth and are constantly wanting to learn, read, and experience more. I want the resources to help me provide the continuous, exciting learning that my students deserve!

My Project

I believe that literacy is the foundation for all of the learning and success that we encounter throughout our lives. My students will need to use their reading skills now and throughout their entire life. It is because of the deep importance of literacy that I would love to continue building my library and the book opportunities that my students can have.

It is so important that I help my young students to develop a loving and engaged relationship with reading.

This relationship will only be possible if my students have access to texts that they are interested in, invested in, and that are at their own reading level. Providing my first graders with enough choices in their text selection is crucial, but also difficult without your help!

I need your help to give my kindergarteners the books that they will need to become successful readers! First grade is an important foundation for the lifelong reading journey that my students are only beginning. First grade is a year where students will show the most reading growth! One crucial component of them becoming successful is having interesting texts at all of their levels. In first grade there is such an enormous range of interests and reading levels that it is important to have an abundant classroom library!
