This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever read a book that you very so captivated by that you took it every where with you? Most of my students do not share that experience. They do not have books at home and reading is not a family value. I want to provide them with books they want to read even when they don't have to!
Some of my students are limited English proficient and 80% are free lunch recipients.
They live in a community where education is not very important and being tough is. I want to give them more options in life that will lead to strong education and positive futures.
My Project
The books that are listed in this request are very engaging and popular with the students. They are current and classic novels that will engage their interest and have them wanting more. Many of the novels are sets, so when they realize they like one of the books in the series they will want to finish the set!
Your generosity will help create lifelong readers who enjoy books.
They will be able to connect to the experiences of the characters in the books and learn more about different genres.
