My Students

I teach fourth grade in a Title I school. My leaders are full of life and always ready to explore and learn. I am a teacher in a low income, high poverty area. Many of my students come from single-parent households and receive free lunch. Because of these challenges, these students do not always have the necessary items they need to succeed in school.

As a teacher, I cannot control these students' home lives but I do have a say in what students have at school.

My Project

We are just finishing up our book study of the first book in the City of Ember series as a class. I have never seen my students be more excited about reading a book! After we finish reading each day I keep hearing little whispers like, "We always have to stop at the best parts!" or "I wish we could just read one more chapter!" I love hearing my students getting excited about reading! We will not continue reading this series as a class, but I would love to give my students the opportunity to continue reading this series! Thank you so much for considering this project!
