Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are remarkable young people-kind, caring, and resilient. They come from a wide range of backgrounds and socio-economic circumstances. Together, they create a vibrant and diverse classroom community where everyone is valued and supported.

Every day, my students work hard to build essential life skills to prepare them for their future.

To support their growth, I am seeking portfolio folders, cups and ID lanyards. We will have lessons about climate change and the environment. These portfolios will be invaluable as they use these materials to chart the amount of rain water it rains during a 3 month period of time. We will collect the rain in the cups and measure the water collected in a graduated cylinder we already have in class. My students will chart water collection levels. My students will do investigations about rain fall levels and areas experiencing drought. The portfolio will be a place where my students keep their notes.

The ID lanyards will help us do this lesson. Students get to experience being scientists and their name badges helps their classmates know their full name and the role they take on during group science experiments. It’s important for students to collaborate and decide which role each student plays in a team. One student is the Recorder and writes the data, another student is the Analyst and writes the observations. Another student will be the reporter and report the information collected to the class. Both the folders and lanyards are practical tools that my students will use in the classroom.

Your support will empower my students to take important steps toward working collaboratively in class and think about the importance of water conservation and taking care of the natural resources on Earth. Thank you for helping us build a brighter inclusive future together!
