Excite Reluctant Readers Through Graphic Novels

Help me give my students books they are excited about, please, my most reluctant readers have discovered Bird and Squirrel graphic novels and the Babysitter's Club graphic novels.

My Project

I teach third grade students in a school-wide Title I school. Two of my most reluctant readers, who receive Title I reading services, have recently discovered two graphic novel series they are excited to read.

One of my previously most apathetic readers has been talking to me daily this week about the Bird and Squirrel graphic novel series.

Last week he told me he didn't have a favorite book. Now he's begging me to find him more of the Bird and Squirrel books since I only have one of the seven in my classroom. He is an influential student in my room, and I can picture him leading several more students to start loving this series as well.

One of my other students has recently discovered the Babysitter's Club, and she has been asking me to help her find more of them. This project would help her, and many of my other readers, have motivating books available everyday in our room.

It would be such a blessing to us if you were able to purchase these books for my readers. It would make such a difference in their lives if they were motivated to practice what has been difficult for them!
