This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Learning can be fun!" Our students are visiting the library more now than ever. When they come we want them to be engaged. This project seeks to keep them mentally challenged and engaged using educational games and toys.
We are a campus library that serves three unique schools in New York.
Our school library serves Title I schools with over 80% of the student population qualifying for free and reduced price lunch. Our students are inquisitive and eager 6th-12th graders that come from a community that has severe socio-economic challenges.
My Project
Libraries for many are considered to be hallowed/quiet halls of knowledge. Our library encourages music, games, and movement to help our students learn and master several forms of literacy. Students will use Lego building plates, Brain Quest game, Bananagrams, Spot It, Division War, and other materials to play, build and puzzle during the school day and during our after-school program.
This project will help our library continue to make the shift in becoming a common space and central hub of learning for our library community.
