This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My exceptional students come from wide range on the Autism spectrum and intellectual disabled. They are always eager to come to school and learn on a daily basis. They depend so much on visual and hands on activities that they can manipulate during a lesson. Also, they are always wanting to stay involved on campus and help others in need. The majority of my students are low-income families who struggle to make ends meet and provide time at home to enhance their learning.
My Project
The students will be able to use these different sensory tools to make special need students feel comfortable to learn in the classroom. Also, they will have a way to stay focused and have ways to alleviate there stresses in their environment in a fun way! Instead of sitting in a boring chair students will be able to stay moving and learning at the same time. They will focus for longer periods of time and stay focused on the lesson. The canoe would be for times when things may not be going their way and need a safe environment they can go away. This helps with the sensory efforts and revealing some of the built up energy throughout the day. The florescent light covers do have a visual effect for my autistic learning that dimming the bright lights in the room can take the edge of the distractions and focusing on tasks.
