My Students
Our school is located in Center City in Philadelphia. Our students come from 43 of Philadelphia's 49 unique zip codes. 94% of our students are African American and 98% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
My incoming 5th grade students face the challenge of beginning the school year with virtual learning.
We stress the 4 Rs, respect, responsibility, resilience, and reflection, with the goal of giving students roots to grow and wings to fly.
My Project
Having headphones will allow students in our inclusive 5th grade classes to focus on their academic work with fewer distractions. Students will use their headphones to listen to, watch, and discuss online material during virtual learning sessions.
Having headphones will make it easier for students to complete academic work, participate in virtual class meetings, and build relationships with their teachers and classmates.
These headphones will be used for independent and collaborative work in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Students will also use the headphones to participate in daily class meetings, where we work on building character and contributing to our community.
