My students need art supplies such as paint, paint brushes, crayons, folders, writing utensils, a pencil sharpener, paper rolls, art display folders, scissors, construction paper, glue and stencils. Art is all about expressing yourself without having "to get it right."
This year I am looking forward to creating a beautiful art environment for all of my students during art class.
Our children are bright, creative, general education and special needs students ranging in grades PreK-5th. We are a Title I school and we do not have an abundance of resources to purchase all the wonderful materials for a complete STEAM Art classroom. I want to create a classroom environment that is welcoming, colorful and full of imagination. Children do spend half of their day in school and having an inviting, colorful and festive place to go to, will motivate them to learn and try new things. Art is the best way to make that happen.
My Project
An abundance of art supplies such as paint, markers, crayons, colored pencils, paper and glue will make a huge impact in my students' lives. Art can be very therapeutic and allows children to communicate and process things they normally cannot give a voice to in their everyday lives. If children have the right tools to draw/paint and express themselves freely, then providing them with these art supplies is essential. Our art program needs "color" to bring to life our skills, imagination and the love of art. Like Picasso said "Everyone can paint." Art has no limit and the stars are where I want my students to aim for.
