My Students
I am the luckiest educator there is! I get to be called teacher by the most amazing group of students. I teach students with abilities that range from special education to gifted and each of them brings something special to the classroom. Although they face many challenges - and some face hardships that most adults can't imagine - they come to school every day with a determination and a hopefulness that cannot be contained.
I learn as much from my students as they do from me.
I have learned words in Spanish, French, Farsi, and Lao to name a few. I have seen children go from nonreaders to voracious readers and non-speakers to loquacious speakers.
We celebrate each accomplishment along the way no matter how small because to my students every milestone counts.
My Project
Small guided reading groups are the lifeblood of my classroom and the learning centers that accompany them are necessary for my students to receive the individualized instruction and practice they need to be successful.
Every minute my students are engaged in learning is an opportunity for success.
Each item I've requested will maximize time spent in meaningful learning and minimize the time spent in transition. The colored paper, the white board and the small group management pocket chart will be helpful in organizing the instructional materials and learning centers for each group. The other items- the pencil dispenser and the bins will be used to house student work materials for each group.
