Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Good morning Scholars! Why did you come to school today?" "We came to school to learn!" This is the morning chant that all students at our school participate in before class starts.
Students are eager to learn and love a challenge.
The majority of my students are Latino and/or African-American. Our school is located in a working class neighborhood of Southwest Los Angeles. Everyday we strive to ensure that our students are college bound and ready to be positive contributors to their community and society at large.
My Project
As my fifth graders continue to grow and create, our projects and materials also continue to grow. From journals, whiteboards, markers, notebooks, art supplies and beyond, our classroom is getting pretty crowded. Colorful utility carts and storage bins will help us keep our classroom clutter-free and organized.
Creating a classroom environment that is organized and clutter-free will positively impact student engagement and self regulation.
I want to create more space for my students to have easy access to materials that they use regularly. Making sure that everything has a space will help us keep our classroom welcoming, student centered and learner friendly.
