My Students

I teach high school math at a Title I school in Eastern KY. I teach 9th-12th graders every day. This year I have amazing groups of students. They are hard workers and strive to do the best they can. Most of my students have a low socioeconomic status.

I want my students to be given every opportunity to succeed in and out of the classroom.

I want my students to learn to be better mathematicians and better people as well. It is my hope that as they come and go for my room that walk out better than when they came in.

Most students struggle in the area of mathematics. My students have their struggles and their victories. It's my goal that the amount of victories increase and the struggle will cause the victories.

My Project

It is no surprise that this year has been extremely hard for everyone, especially students. Teachers have worked tirelessly to make sure all of their students' needs are met. For my school district, there is a possibility of returning to in-person schooling for everyone. Because of this I want to make sure my students come back to a welcoming and comfortable environment.

Most of the time standard school desks aren't comfortable for most kids.

I'm wanting to add student desks to my room that are separate from the chairs. This will create an environment that encourages collaboration with others and can making seating more comfortable for students. The desks I have now aren't the best desks to use for group work or collaborating with others. However, these desks that I have chosen allow collaboration to take place in an easier manner.

Most students complain about standard desks. These desk are larger that the current ones in my class which give them more room to learn and have a detached chair is helpful in various scenarios. All in all, these would be an amazing addition to my classroom.
