My students need a bookshelf to organize our class book sets.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Speers's classroom raised $174
This project is fully funded
My Students
My one classroom bookcase is full. I'm thankful to have extra books, but I'm now using milk crates and cardboard boxes to hold books. Another bookcase would really help to keep books organized while keeping the classroom looking neat.
My students are English language learners in grades 1-8.
Our urban public school is very diverse with more than 50 home languages represented. The students receive English language support from me during and after school. Some students are newcomers, including refugee students, who speak little or no English. Others are gaining fluency but are often academically behind their English speaking peers. Many of our students receive free and cost reduced lunches and almost half are designated English language learners.
My Project
I have class sets of leveled books for my students. These books are science and social studies content books. I also have Spanish-English bilingual books, in addition to various ESL resource materials. We use these books on a regular basis, but they are currently in piles and in boxes. The space looks messy and it's hard to easily find the books you're looking for. This bookcase will work nicely to organize the classroom space.
My English language learners face additional obstacles to learning since they are learning both academic skills and the language skills they will need to be successful.
When they come to my classroom they are getting that extra support they need. This project provides additional resources for my students.
