My Project

Next school year, I will be teaching a self-contained classroom for students with intellectual disabilities. One of the most meaningful parts of our day is whole group time — when we gather together as a class community to learn, share, and grow.

To help make this time even more special, I'm requesting a new classroom rug.

This rug will be more than just a place to sit — it will be a space where each child feels seen, valued, and included. The rug will feature individual "spots" for each student, giving them a consistent and personal space that supports their need for structure and physical boundaries. This helps promote attention, comfort, and positive behavior.

I plan to enhance the rug with colorful Velcro rainbow markers where students' photos can be placed, helping each child easily find their spot every day.

Your support will help me create a warm, welcoming learning environment that celebrates and supports all abilities. Thank you for helping each of my students know that they truly have a special spot in our classroom and in this world.
