Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our amazing school is located on the southwest side of Chicago. My students come from mostly low-income families. Many of our students speak both English and Spanish. I teach first graders who are eager to come to school everyday and learn as much as possible. I would love to create a welcoming and safe environment to help my students succeed.
My Project
These materials will help my students want to learn in a hands on, visually stimulating learning environment. Most of my students have spent the majority of their school career in a remote setting. Getting them into classroom routines will be a challenge. These materials will help them remain engaged by using these tangible materials. The tools, journals, white boards, number lines, and alphabet beads, will be used in whole group and small group settings. Having a large ESL population at our school, these visuals are great for repetition to aide in learning. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card is great for purchasing material to meet each students needs.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
