My Project
Hello! I am a speech language pathologist in an elementary school in Chicago. I work with over 60 students, many of whom have complex communication needs. My students are kind, curious, loving children who deserve the best!
With this project I will be able to bring the love of reading to all students, even those who are nonverbal or minimally verbal.
I will use the Teachers Pay Teachers gift certificate to download adapted books for my students with the most complex needs which I will then laminate and bind. Adapted books have words or pictures that the students can manipulate and this helps engage them in the books and reinforce reading skills. I will also use the poke the dot books and lift the flap books to encourage students' attention and participation.
